Flowers or Buttons & Bows Challenge at Really Reasonable Ribbon

Hello Friends!!
Happy April Fools Day!!
It is time for a new challenge at Really Reasonable Ribbon.
Our challenge this time is Flowers or Buttons and Ribbon.

I decided to do a little painting again, so I am sharing a sweet little metal pail that I altered for my mom's Easter Basket.
I purchased the pail from my local Dollar Tree store.
It started out blue as you can see on the right below.
Here is a look at it finished.
I started out by adding torn book pages with mod podge.
Then I added some Gesso to the inside and covered the book pages so they wouldn't bee too bright.  Next I painted on the Leaves and Roses....then aged it with more paint.
My Mother is going to LOVE it!  She has been bugging me and bugging me to get back into painting...LOL.  She likes my paper crafting....but prefers the painting.
Here is a look at it from the side.
I used some of my favorite Ribbons and Trims from
I have lined the inside of my bucket rim with Juliet Lace.
I have tied little bows out of both Silky Crush Champagne and Teal Ribbons!  I LOVE them!!  So Romantic and Shabby Chic!
Here is a look at the right side of the pail.
Here is a look at the back, you can see below how my pail was covered with book pages, then painted over to give it a nice vintagy look.
I am pretty pleased now with how it turned out, the first day or two when I am done painting something...I see to many of the strokes of painting...and not the overall image....so it takes me a while...lol..to be happy with my work....I will have to do one for myself :0)
Here is a look at the inside.
Yummy!!
One last look at the before and after.
I can't wait to see what you create for our
Flowers or Buttons and Bows Challenge
at

I will be playing along with

Thank you for visiting!!

  1. Who wouldn't love this as their Easter basket! Your mom will be thrilled! This is sooo gorgeous and it inspires me to do something different for my daughter's Easter basket this year too, though I think this is a bit out of my league. SO FAR. :) Thanks so much for sharing all the photos - I love seeing every angle of your projects!

  4. Best Easter basket ever! And if you decide it's not good enough for your mom, I'm happy to give you my address. LOL I am so in love with the torn book pages, the incredible painted roses (I didn't even know you could paint...but of course you can because you are amaze-balls!) and the way you finished the inside is brilliant. Top that off with lace and silky crush ribbon, and I"m weak in the knees.
