Craft Hoarders & Creative Cutting Challenges

Hello Peeps!!
I hope you are all having a safe Memorial Day Weekend.
Today I have two projects to share with you.
First up I am excited to share that I am Guest Designing again this month for Gloria's Craft Hoarders and the challenge this time is to show some glass/metal in your project.
Here is what I made for inspiration.
I upcycled a pickle jar.
My Pickle jar started out looking like this.
I added a coat of Old White Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, then clear wax and finished off with dark wax.
I used a digital paper that I designed and used an image from this month's ephemera For the Birds at Gecko Galz.  All my ribbons and trims are from Really Reasonable Ribbon.
I also added a tiny metal shovel and watering can.  I filled my jar with some of the lilacs from my yard.
My second project is a card that I made for our
Father's Day Challenge that is going on at
I used Cindy's Car file which you can get here.

I can't wait to see what you create and share with us at Craft Hoarders and the Creative Cutting Challenge.!!
Thank you for visiting!!
Hugs

  1. OK. This is why you should visit someone's blog no matter how large and lovely a picture is on another site.

Your painted pickle jar looks so convincingly like a crock, that I thought to myself, "Gee, that sure is pretty, but I guess Heather is considering her crock as a stand-in for glass. (At this point the shovel and watering can had evaded my notice.)

I use to do a lot of decorative painting, and have tried quite a few techniques, but never ran across the one you used to transform your pickle jar. Are the waxes very soft to aid blending, and if so, do they harden after a bit of time?

Thanks for sharing this beautiful project. Everything about it (including those glorious white lilacs) says "Step right up, and be wowed!".
